Poppy & Co started with a vision to create clothes for women that made them feel great about themselves. The idea was simple: a piece of clothing which was a hero, that added a splash of colour to the outfit and made them feel confident.
The idea of Poppy & Co shirts was born. Next up was getting the fit in place. Believe it or not it took us close to 6 months developing the fit that is exclusive to Poppy & Co.
The fit or as the technical term goes by “ pattern” was developed and graded by the leading pattern master of the country: Mr. Mohammad Ismail. Mr Ismail is the Consultant & Advisor at Raymond Mumbai, founder of School of Garment Pattern Making (SGPM), authored 6 books on pattern making and a six sigma black belt holder. Besides this he has worked in countries across the world like Italy, Japan, Korea and Germany.
Before the fit was finalised it was sampled on 50 plus women of all shapes and sizes. Thats the kind of in-depth research that went into it. After the patterns were developed and finalised we then moved on to the painstaking process of finding the right fabric for the fit of the shirt.
Three things were important for us
- Fabric should fall well,
- Fabric should be able to able easy to print on
- Should be lightweight.
After going through lots of samples of fabrics we finally settled on plant based satin that was opulent to look at, felt luxurious on skin, easy to maintain, would work well with prints and was sustainable.
The plant based satin fabric used in Poppy shirts is made from wood pulp with 2% polyester. Stay tuned to know why you should buy a Poppy & Co shirt.
